District 5 San Francisco

One of the amazing things about San Francisco is the diversity of neighborhoods.  Nowhere is that more apparent than in District 5, generally referred to as the Central District of San Francisco.  Home to the colorful sub-districts of Haight-Ashbury and The Castro (which is in the Eureka Valley section), the Central District is also home to the more sedate neighborhoods of Buena Vista Park, Clarendon Heights, Corona Heights, Noe Valley, Duboce Triangle, Twin Peaks, Parnassus-Ashbury Heights, Glen Park and Dolores Heights.  Real estate in District 5 is varied and interesting, with something sure to please just about anyone.

san francisco district 5 As the name implies, the Central District is right in the geographic center of San Francisco.  It is an area of extremes, full of character and vitality, popular with tourists and residents alike.  Sheltered from the famous San Francisco fog, the Central District is one of San Francisco's sunnier regions.  Buena Vista Park, which is the oldest public park in San Francisco, is located in the Central District, as are Twin Peaks, Mission Dolores Park and Mission Dolores itself.  A BART station in Glen Park puts the district only a short 10-minute ride from downtown San Francisco, making it easily accessible to both commuters and visitors.

The Central District is an intriguing mix of commercial and residential properties.  Single-family homes, flats, apartments, lofts, and condos can be found throughout the district.  The Noe Valley is a coveted residential area with diverse architecture, locally owned shops, and a neighborhood feel.  The Victorians in the hillside community of Ashbury Heights reflect a gentrified, upgraded Haight, while the wood-shingled homes in nearby Parnassus Heights provide an atmosphere reminiscent of Berkeley.
