District 10 San Francisco
Bordered by I-80 and I-280 on the west and the San Francisco Bay to the east, District 10 is in the southeastern most point of San Francisco. It is, to a large degree, a light industrial and warehouse area and includes the neighborhoods of Bayview, Bayview Heights, Crocker Amazon, Excelsior, Hunters Point, Mission Terrace, Outer Mission, Portola, Silver Terrace, and Visitacion Valley. Most of these neighborhoods are older communities with diverse demographics.
Although District 10 is an industrial part of San Francisco, residents have their share of recreational opportunities. McLaren Park, a complex with tennis and basketball courts, sports fields, jogging and hiking paths, a swimming pool, children's playgrounds, and a golf course is conveniently located in the south-central portion of the district. Other parks include Balboa Park, the charming Cayuga Park, the Crocker Amazon Playground, and Candlestick Point State Recreation Area, as well as Monster Park - home to the San Francisco 49ers.
Surrounded by factories and warehouses, some areas in District 10 are somewhat economically depressed. For the most part, homes are owner-occupied, single-family homes and duplexes, many of which were built in the 1950s. Real estate is mixed, with some very nice homes in some areas, and less desirable properties in others. Excelsior and Crocker Amazon are both commuter neighborhoods with a suburban feel and reasonable house prices, while Bayview is a fairly self-contained city within a city.

The southeast section of San Francisco is an affordable section of the city, however the industrial nature of the district creates an atmosphere that is not necessarily appealing to all homeowners. The median home price is one of the lowest in the city and a discerning buyer may be able to spot a diamond in the rough and get in on the ground floor of an up-and-coming neighborhood.
